Enteric Diseases Program
Laboratory Details
The Enteric Diseases Program provides diagnostic reference and research services for food and waterborne pathogens including Salmonella, Shigella, Escherichia coli, Campylobacter, Vibrio, and Listeria. Reference services focus on the identification, Serotyping, Phage typing and Toxin testing of human-clinical isolates. Research activities focus on the development of next-generation molecular typing protocols and the use of high-throughput proteomic and genomic technologies to provide a rapid and comprehensive characterization of human-clinical isolates. This work is conducted in collaboration with National Enteric Surveillance Program (NESP) and PulseNet Canada to support the national identification and response to enteric disease outbreaks.
